(I’m reading this without knowing the fandom, so apologies in advance for any misunderstandings. I just recently found out about Cakeverse and got curious.)
I enjoy the queer metaphor here: the stigmatization displayed both in real life (with Muu fearing how her friends will view her) and in fiction (with the numerous cannibalism horror movies and how they won’t actually say the words “cake” and “fork” but it’s obvious what is being meant) and how it turns inward (with Muu struggling with the idea of being a fork, of wanting to eat Rei) and outward (with Muu blaming Rei for “baiting” her). It makes me wonder if Muu is (at least partially) misreading attraction to Rei as a desire to eat her because Muu is viewing it through that biased lens (where forks are horrible cannibals who can’t control themselves).
