WIP Wednesday
Jan. 21st, 2026 08:36 pmFor the sake of not making the comments section multiple miles long, please put your WIP under a cut, and provide a description of what is underneath said cut! (Ships, characters, what type of fanwork, trigger warnings if applicable...) We all have preferences for subjects we'd like to see, and things we'd like to avoid.
Don't be afraid to ask for help, as well! If something isn't quite right about your piece, but you can't quite put your finger on what, getting fresh eyes on it can help narrow the problem down in record time! Just be sure to specify you are looking for help, and what area you need help with. (Example: "I need help with this Falin fanart. Could someone help me make the colors more cohesive?") You can also ask for resources, and anything else you may need help with!
And remember, once your WIP is no longer a WIP, to consider posting it here for the whole community to enjoy!

Pan Bagnat (Niçoise Salad Sandwich)
Jan. 21st, 2026 04:35 amPan Bagnat (Niçoise Salad Sandwich)
Active Time: 30 mins Total Time: 50 mins Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 large eggs
14 ounces canned tuna in olive oil (from 4 [5-ounce] cans), drained (about 2 cups)
½ cup red wine vinegar
½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
4 anchovy fillets (from 1 [2-ounce] can), drained
2 medium garlic cloves, smashed
1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
½ teaspoon black pepper, divided
1 (14- to 16-ounce) ciabatta loaf, split horizontally
1 cup multicolored pitted olives, halved if large
2 medium beefsteak tomatoes (about 10 ounces each), cored and sliced crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick slices
1 small red onion (about 6 ounces), halved lengthwise and thinly sliced crosswise (about 1 1/4 cups)
4 large radishes, thinly sliced crosswise (about 1/3 cup)
4 large or 6 medium Bibb lettuce leaves (from 1 head lettuce)
12 large fresh basil leaves
Directions
Fill a medium saucepan halfway with water; bring to a boil over high. Carefully lower eggs into boiling water; cook, undisturbed, 8 minutes. Pour off water, reserving eggs in saucepan; add ice water to cover eggs. Let eggs cool completely, about 10 minutes. Drain and peel eggs. Cut each egg lengthwise into 3 slices. Set aside.
Combine tuna, vinegar, oil, anchovies, garlic, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper in a food processor; process just until smooth, 20 to 30 seconds, stopping to scrape down sides using a spatula as needed. Spread tuna mixture evenly onto cut sides of ciabatta halves. Scatter olives on bottom ciabatta half. Top with sliced eggs, tomatoes, onion, and radishes; sprinkle with remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and remaining 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Top with lettuce and basil. Cover with top ciabatta half. Cover sandwich with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Place a baking sheet on top of sandwich, and place a skillet on top of baking sheet to weigh it down. Let sandwich stand 10 to 20 minutes. Cut crosswise into 4 sandwiches, and serve.
Make Ahead
Eggs may be boiled and chilled up to 2 days in advance. Peel and slice just before assembling sandwich.

The Pitt: i want to be the one patrolling your border by Lirazel
Jan. 20th, 2026 12:50 pmThis is my first time posting here, hope I'm doing it right
Fandom: The Pitt
Pairings/Characters: Mel King/Frank Langdon
Rating: Explicit
Length: 15,986

Theme: Crack treated seriously, (not really) unrequited love, (something) made them do it, sex pollen
Summary:
There are all kinds of protocols in place to prevent this sort of thing, but of course they mean exactly nothing when faced with the reality of emergency medicine.
Frank and Trinity both complain that Mel has no sense of self-preservation, but she’s actually a very careful and responsible person. Despite what they say, she never puts herself in danger if she can help it, she feels that she makes level-headed decisions even under pressure, and even if she usually finds people hard to read, she’s read The Gift of Fear and is pretty sure she can tell when someone has actually malicious intent.
Pretty sure until, with no warning at all, a patient—Griffin Jackson, white male, 27, complaining of chest pains—pulls out a tiny jar of neon-yellow powder and pops off the top.
Reccer's note: This is a classic fandom trope (sex pollen) treated seriously. Mel and Frank are just co-workers in canon, but in canon it's obvious they have a connection and this fic explores how much they might grow to mean to each other, and it does so while keeping them (and all other characters that appear) tremendously in character. The sex is, of course, very hot too. :D And the fic also does consent right!

Mods, we need a tag for The Pitt and the pairing too maybe, please? Thank you.
